We are still in the planning stages of Wedding Tip Wednesday, and today it’s all about entertainment. I know I am a little biased, but I also have over 32 years of experience. Quite honestly, I just want you to get what is best for you. Let’s start.
Band vs. DJ
Bands have one major advantage over DJs. They play live music right in front of you.
DJs(and MCs) have a number of advantages. Typically they are better at major announcements, behind the scenes coordination, more music selections, and original music by original artists almost always gets more guests on the dance floor.
Price is typically less expensive for great DJs than a great band.
Then, it’s about quality. Quality is based on references, style, and reliability. You should always speak on the phone, in person, or over Zoom with your entertainment company before contracting. They should ask you questions about your vision of the wedding. They should offer ideas and suggestions that make your day more personal. AND they should NEVER tell you how a wedding is supposed to be done.
It’s your day, and you should have it the way YOU want!
Not all DJs, MCs, and bands are created equal. They should all be artists. You provide the paints in the form of requests, festivities, and style. The reception is the canvas. Your entertainment should create the masterpiece.
The guests never really remember the food, flowers, or color scheme. ALL guests remember the entertainment.
