Issues with Introductions
In a perfect world, introductions would be easy
Brides Parents
Grooms Parents
Bridesmaids/Ushers
Ring Bearer/Flower Girl
Maid/Matron of Honor & Best Man
Bride & Groom
What happens when it isn’t that cut and dry? Split parents, missing parents, uneven bridesmaids/ushers, multiple flower girls, etc., it all can happen. Here are some tips to make it easier.
Grandparents
Grandparents come before the parents. If they are able to walk, they can walk in, but they can also be recognized from their seats. It’s a nice way to show respect without putting them out.
Split parents
In the event of split parents, traditionally the layout is:
Mother of the Bride escorted by her husband/son/brother
Father of the Bride escorting his wife/significant other/anybody or just solo
Mother of the Groom escorted by her husband/son/brother
Father of the Groom escorting his wife/significant other/anybody or just solo
And if anyone is missing, just skip that line
Also, they can be introduced into the room or just recognized from their seats.
Uneven Bridal Party
One usher can escort 2 bridesmaids and vice versa.
Also, if you have little ring bearers or flower girls, they can come in with any bridesmaid/usher (especially if that person is a parent of the little one)
Multiple Ring Bearers and Flower Girls
This is easy if they are about age 5 and older, they can come in together as a group. If they are younger than 5, they may need some adults to help them. A good MC can also be positioned on the dance floor to have them come directly to him/her. After they reach the dance floor, they should almost always go to their seat.
Multiple Maids/Matrons of Honor/Best Men/Best Women
Try to pair off as much as possible, but if that doesn’t work, they can always be recognized as a VIP of the bridal party when they are introduced with a bridesmaid or usher.
Then, for the first dance, all adults are typically semi-circling the dance floor and looking engaged. They make for a great backdrop for photos of the first dance.
