It’s the age old questions…Who can ya trust? In this case, it’s all about one of the biggest days of your life. No pressure, right?
Well, I am here to tell you that you can break it down and find qualities that will help you sleep at night. Let’s start with how to find vendors. Word of mouth, google, weddingwire.com, theknot.com, zola.com, Yelp.com, and facebook are all great resources, but leg work is where it should start. If you read independent reviews and talk with the vendors directly, you can get a great feeling about how they are to work with. It all starts with customer service. Does the vendor return emails, calls and texts in a timely fashion? Are they professional? Have they been in business for a long period of time?
When reading reviews, you don’t want a company that has only 5 reviews. That could just be their best friend, their uncle, and school buddies. A reputable company should have hundreds of reviews across all platforms. When reading them, look for signals within the review itself. A review that says, “They were the best!” tells you nothing about them. In the case of entertainment, look for lines like “always there for me (us)”, “had a number of great ideas”, “not pushy”, and “professional”. Remember, this vendor is representing you on your big day. This is especially true with entertainment because the DJ/MC or Band is going to be the front person for the whole day. Will they dress the part, sound polished on the microphone, and be able to read the crowd? These answers will come from deep Zoom, in-person, or in depth phone calls. Don’t be afraid to ask the tough questions. And don’t trust email or text when it comes to someone that is on the mic. Talk to them in person to hear how they communicate. That’s how they will be on the mic.
Finally, once you have a venue, entertainer, and maybe a photographer that you trust, ask them to refer you to other vendors that you need. We are all in the business of helping our clients. Rely on their years of expertise to help you fill the holes in your wedding planning. In the case of A Touch Of Class DJ’s, we offer Entertainment, Photography, and Videography. But we don’t offer flowers, cakes, or limos. We have great companies that we can refer you to. We are all here to help you!
